Tower Biminis

The goal for this project was to create a bimini top designer that would allow customers to choose the type of bimini design and the colors that went along with it.

Although I do not believe in full fledged flash websites, I had come to realize Flash could be a life saver in satisfying the end user needs in some cases. For example, in this case, the customers were able to get a close visual idea of what their bimini top would look like before actually purchasing it which would give them more confidence to take the plunge.

Additionally, after weighing the pros and cons, Flash was deemed to be the best solution to solve the design issues. Since the bimini tops had rather complicated design which had to be filled in with various colors the customer might pick, the vector based graphics proved to easy to manipulate to achieve that goal. This also meant less maintenance on the development team when a new color is added. By using hex values to change the bimini top colors, there was no need of creating multiple images to represent different colors.

This project also seamlessly integrated a Flash application with a .NET backend without the users ever noticing any transition that might interrupt their thought process.
