South Valley Bike and Run Club began in the Spring of 2009 when a group of friends, each with different passions for endurance sports decided it would be nice to have one group that would combine Mountain Biking, Road Cycling and Running into a club. The site has grown leaps and bounds from the time it began.
One of the more interesting parts of the site in my opinion as the front end web developer is the sign up process for a race. If a user has an account, he can easily log into his account and his information is prefilled without the page ever reloading. This is achieved using a simple web service call. However simple it is, it becomes more satisfying when you hear users exclaiming “how cool” it is they can do that.
Another interesting part of the site is calendar. The calendar shows various events entered by the administrators of the site. Every calendar event detail is shown in a popup. The calendar is powered by Ajax, making the interaction process as smooth as possible for the end user.
Sign up process. Allows user to sign in and fills in the user’s information without reloading.
Shows events and races. Event details are shown in a popup.
